Nonprofit = Reach Millions of Viewers with Youtube

YouTube is using some of their internet power for good.  YouTube is teaming up with nonprofit organizations that apply through YouTube partnership program to promote their nonprofit group on the first page of the nonprofit YouTube channel. I think it is a good idea for nonprofit groups to raise money online.  I think it may be easier than applying for grants.  I know some people will disagree with that, but those same people who claim they can get grants for you for a small charge ;) .

I love the way MoveOn.org Political Action, one of the largest Political Action Committees in the country took their political cause to the internet and made millions for their cause.  Starting with online petitions to get their members.  Through 2004, MoveOn.org Political Action raised approximately $11 million for 81 candidates from over 300,000 donors. In 2005, MoveOn.org Political Action grew to 3.2 million members and 125,000 members contributed $9 million to progressive candidates and campaigns (average donation: $45).

But, YouTube have requirements for the nonprofit program.  Your nonprofit group may not be religious or political in nature and may not be focused primarily on lobbying for political or policy change.

Besides that, YouTube helps you setup your nonprofit channel.  The World Water Day Video that debut on their nonprofit channel for the first time raised $10,000 in one day.
